Survival guide
A survivor's manual. Read it before you need it.
Your first hour
Spawn in Sandy. Don't run — infected hear you. Find water, a blade, and a coat. Head to Pillbox for the intro NPC and a starter mission.
Food & water
Hunger and thirst tick down passively. Boil water before drinking. Canned food is safe; anything else has a spoilage timer.
Wounds & meds
Bandages stop bleeding. Splints fix limbs. Only real medics can operate. Painkillers dull the infection bar temporarily — abuse them and you'll pay.
The infection
0-30% = mild, 30-70% = symptomatic, 70-99% = late stage, 100% = you turn. Airborne strains in the underground require masks with fresh filters.
Crafting & scavenging
Break down loot for materials. Every workbench specializes: weapons, meds, cooking, electronics. Better tools unlock better recipes.
Base building
Claim an abandoned building. Reinforce doors, wire generators, plant crops on rooftops. Bases decay if unvisited for 14 days.
Weather
Rain kills body temperature fast. Snow storms in the north can be fatal. Always carry a fire kit and dry backup clothes.
Fire & light
Zombies see light. Zombies smell smoke. Cook before nightfall, kill your lamps before you sleep.
